Happy 4th of July! I am excited to say that today I am sharing how to make Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats in my guest post at Pamela’s Heavenly Treats. Scroll down to see the printable recipe for the Rice Krispie Treats or for the full tutorial head on over to my guest post.
Pamela’s blog is a great resource for sweet recipes. And as an added bonus, Pamela puts a healthy twist on a lot of her recipes by using ingredients like applesauce and whole wheat flour.
The recipe for Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats that I am sharing with you today is more for those times when you want to indulge in something sinful. Trust me when I say that its ooey gooey chocolatey goodness is hard to resist!
And for some added fun I will show you the easy way I decorated my Rice Krispie Treats as part of a Superman themed gift basket I created for Father’s Day.
Whatcha waitin’ for?? Head on over the Pamela’s Heavenly Treats and let me know what you think!

Ingredients
Instructions
- Butter a 9" x 13" pan and chop up dark chocolate Reese's peanut butter cups into quarters until you have 1 cup. Set aside.
- Melt the butter over low heat in a large pot and add marshmallows to the melted butter. Stir until all of the marshmallows are melted.
- Stir in the peanut butter, vanilla, and salt. Mix well. Add in the Rice Krispies, about one cup at a time, and stir until they are evenly coated.
- Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the peanut butter cups and chocolate chips. Mix until pieces of chocolate are scattered throughout the mixture but don't over mix so that the pieces are all melted.
- Transfer the mixture into the buttered pan. Spread as evenly as possible, continually pressing on the surface until it is flat.
- Let sit for about an hour before enjoying.
