Make Your Donut Hole Pops
Normally the first step in making cake pops is to make cake balls. With the easiest cake pops ever, you get to skip this step all together. No baking, no mixing, no waiting for “dough” to chill. Just get right to the decorating…
Microwave your candy melts in a bowl on low power for 30-seconds at a time. Stop and stir after each 30-second interval then repeat until the coating is completely melted.
Dip the end of a lollipop stick or colorful paper straw into the melted coating and then insert it into a donut hole, gently pushing until the stick is about half way through the donut. Turn your donut pop upright and set it in your cake pop stand to let the coating harden. Continue this process for all of your donut hole pops.
After all of your donuts are on sticks, dip each one straight down into the melted candy coating until the donut is completely covered and sealed. If you need to angle the donut pop to coat it, gently tilt it in one direction and then another. Resist the temptation to stir the coating. If you do, your donut may fall off of the stick.
Remove the donut pop from the melted coating by pulling it straight up. Then, turn the pop at an angle and gently tap off any excess coating.
Helpful Hint: A tall narrow bowl works best for dipping. Keeping the coating warm throughout the entire dipping process is key to having a smooth coating on your pops. To avoid having to repeatedly reheat your coating, a chocolate melting pot is a great tool.
Set the pop upright in your cake pop stand and continue dipping the rest of your donut pops. Allow the coating to cool and harden completely before packaging or devouring your tasty treats.
Now that you didn’t have to bake a cake or clean your food processor, what will you do with all that extra free time? I assure you, the vacuuming and laundry can wait!
